Dear sisters and brothers, Assalamu Alaikum. Insha’Allah, I will be posting some inspiring anecdotes from Seerah, from time to time. All anecdotes will be taken from ” Islam, the natural way” by Abdul Wahid Hamid. The first one in this series is this lovely one. Read on….
Abu Hurayrah (May Allah be pleased with him) went to the market with the Prophet (Peace be upon him) to buy some clothes. The seller stood up and kissed the hand of the Prophet, peace be upon him. The Prophet withdrew his hand and stopped the man from kissing his hand saying, “This is the practice of the Persians with their kings. I am not a king. I am only a man from among you”.
The garments were purchased and Abu Hurayrah wanted to carry them for the Prophet. The Prophet did not allow him and said, “The owner of something has more right to carry it”.
